Utility companies country wide are seeking more and more alternative power to meet their state mandates. One of the highest and soonest commencing state madates is set up in California. Legislators and the governor have required utilities to get 20 percent of their electricity from renewable sources by next year 2010 and 33 percent by 2020. Even with the planned wind farms in many states, some including some in California are on hold due to resistance to the building of new power lines to transmit the power they will generate. Do you think that the Federal Government should interfere in the state disputes so that the infrastructure can move forward?
Hi, can anyone give me more information on diy solar power and other alternative power sources?
I stay in an informal settlement and we don't have any electicity so I am looking for alternatives
Why do we still use fossil fuel when we have the technology to use alternative power?
How can we use heat as an alternative power source?
fires heatwaves?
What is Near future alternative power sources for fossil fuels?
As our planet s population continues to grow and energy needs increase. Human needs a potent, dependable and sustainable energy source. The fossil fuels is depleting while meeting growing energy demands will require new development of power sources. Is there any power or energy resources which is not require more energy to manufacture, easy to produce, cheaper in cost, and maybe if possible unlimited resources.
Will this alternative power catch on?
Giant lighter anyone?NOW STAY BACK dailyhaha.com pics hybrid motorcycle.htmCripes They had some disturbing pics on that site please don't hold me responsible for any sights for sore eyes.
Any Suggestions for a (preferably) low cost alternative power scheme?
Can anybody give me advice for the setting up of an alternative power scheme in our home please? What is the latest technology, what is best and what is available in New Zealand? We are not so young anymore, so it has to be reasonably priced, although we can do some of it ourselves. Are there any good websites you can provide for accessing information on how to build your own power scheme or where we can source buy equipment for such a scheme. Many thanks.
Why is alternative power more expensive than regular?
Will standard automobiles be able to be converted to electric, air, or alternative powered sources in time?
What is the best alternative power for automobiles next to oil?
What do you think about alternative power sources for cars?
What kind of alternative power source do you think is best for cars fuel cells, hydrogen, electricity. Could you tell me?
In your opinion ,what is the best alternative power source?
1. Hydroelectricity2. Biomass Biofuel 3. Geothermal Energy4. Wind Power5. Solar Power
How much of the higher cost of alternative power is due to transitional costs? And how much higher is it?
It is generally accepted by all sides that, at least at present, most or all " alternative" electricity generation solar, wind, geothermal, etc is more expensive per kilowatt hour than coal fired power plants. But I wonder how much of that is due to economies of scale, the costs of building new power generating structures to replace existing ones, and anything else that would likely go away once we were using these power sources across the board, rather than as special case alternatives? In other words, if we made a big push to replace our fossil fuel based energy with these alternatives, would the price per kilowatt hour stay significantly higher than coal, or would it settle down to similar levels or even lower after the initial investment? And, as it is, what roughly is the difference in cost between various power generation technologies? Actual figures from a credible source, please, not rectally acquired exaggerations.Cole what do your " pure" generation costs include? Because I fail to see where solar or wind have any ongoing costs, beyond maintenance and transmission, once they're built. Basically, part of what I'm asking is, which would be cheaper if we hadn't already built the coal plants, but not the solar wind plants?Rio maybe I wasn't looking at the right bit, but I couldn't find costs, just usage rates.
Alternative power for homes in Northern Nevada.?
I live in Northern Nevada and was wondering what are some good renewable energy sources that are affordable? I could care less about " global warming" , I would just do it to save money.
