Building a shed for band.?
I planning on building a big shed or something in the woods behind my grandparents house. They have alot of land and the place I planning on building it is beautiful. It has like a tree in the middle and a circle around it filled with nothing, but leafs. Im planning on making a shed so I can fit all my musical instrument in and practice so the noise want disturb anybody. The question im asking is, is this a good idea or not. Also, how do you think I should build it. I would prefer a abandon house or basement if I could, but their no one who would let us use it. Here is a link to the view of the area I was talking about. I was gradually moving it side to side. youtube.com watch?v NQRJoAmxVUs
Should I build a concrete footer before I build a shed on an existing slab?
I am converting an unused old 3 seasons room into my first shed. There is an existing slab ready to use there now. Before I lay the green treated base plates with my Ramset should I build a concrete footer first? All around the house the concrete footers extend up past grade by about 2 feet. If the consensus is that a footer is necessary, I would use 2x6's laid on side to make the form. Several questions arise from this though. If I do the footer, how do I secure the inside part of the form because its a concrete slab. I will use stakes and 1x2's crossing atop the 2x6 mold to hold it together but will the bottom bow and how do I attach it on the inside like I said? Also if I use a SIKA bonding agent is that sufficient for the footer or do I need re bar to hold the footer to the existing slab?I really hope someone else is out there and has build a shed on an existing grade slab. If so I would appreciate your opinion. P.S. if I build on the existing slab without the footer I will use a foam sill gasket and PL caulk to prevent water intrusion. But what about heavy rains that may get under the siding starter strip which would basically be touching the ground level? Is there any other issues I may be missing on this initial step to building my first shed??I am starting on the project tomorrow SUNDAY 7 25 10 so any information soon is most welcome.I considered CMUs but what about joining the base plates to the " end grain" of the CMU? Won't the thin portion of the CMU crack and fissure if I try to use a RAMSET or any other anchor? That is my concern but let me know if you have had luck with that.

Neighbor built a shed in the front yard right on the property line.?
I have a neighbor that has put up a shed in the front yard right at our property line. I didn t measure it exactly but I think the roof of the shed is hovering right over the line or is within inches less than 3 . I am not very social so I don t have much of a friendship with them but we don t have any problems either. I am going to ask him about it tomorrow but I am wondering if there is something legal on my side or something I can use to persuade him to move it. Our neighborhood doesn t have any restrictions but this shed so close to our property line looks so bad. Below is a text layout of part of my house. h my house, f fence, P Property Line, W Sidewalk, S Shed. I hope that helps more then hurts. hffffffffffffffffffffffPfffffffffffffff h.............WPh.............WPSSSSSSh.............WPS.........ShWWWWWPSSSSSS
I live in Fontana CA, and my neighbor built a Shed or Cover of some kind.?
The roof line is right above the block wall, which is the property line. He just built it two weeks ago and I didn't think anything about it but when it rains the water runs on to my property. In Fontana CA, how far does he have to be away from the property line? Thanks AllThanks guys. But this is not a portable structure. It is made out of wood and has footings and headers. I hope this helps. I am planning on talking to him today to see if we can work something out. Thanks
