we live in virginia, we are building an 8x12 wood storage barn in our backyard. what is the most efficient and CHEAP base for our barn? cinderblocks, or crushed rocks, or cement slab, or what?we have a pre cut kit that includes a floor. i just want to know what do we sit the floor on.
Pressure Treated Plywood for storage shed-?
Building metal storage shed and currently building plywood floor using all treated lumber. I have completed the floor and thinking about waiting for a couple of months before starting the metal shed. It is a 10' x 11' shed, and the reason for wanting to wait is I live in Louisiana and the temp is currently in the high 90s. Question is I know the wood is pressure treated and can take the rain etc, but I am wondering about the exposed plywood floor. My previous history with regular plywood is that it will warp and de laminate if it gets wet. Will treated plywood do the same thing or should I try and cover it with a tarp for rain protection.
Can I convert a 2-story storage shed into a house?
So, I've seen these cool 2 story storage shed outside Lowe's and Home Depot, and I like the 2 story shed to make it into a little guest house. We were thinking about putting it in the backyard of my parents' house. So, I know it'll need insulation, and it has to be wired for kitchen and will also need plumbing and stuff. Also, if we went that route, wouldn't we need to add some support so that the 2nd floor doesn't cave in? lol You think it's a good idea for a little guest house or a bachelor pad?What are your ideas?
What can I use to repel mice in storage shed?
I found evidence of mouse visitation in my Christmas tree box this year. I don't want to poison them or use traps, cause I don't get in there often enough to use humane traps, and I won't use inhumane ones. Is there something I can put in there that will deter them? I can't use electronic devices, as there is no electricity there. I will appreciate any and all serious suggestions, I don't want my stuff ruined Thanks Lara B, why was it necessary to make a rude comment? You merely made yourself look bad BooBoo, it's a rented storage room. I don't think they would appeciate me going crazy with the expanding foam in there. What is practical location to install storage shed in the back yard?
I am in Chicago area. I am planning to store grill, hoses, bicycle etc. Just bot a 6' x 8' X 4 1 2' High shed from Menards. For a practical, convenient and safe location should the shed be put next to the house or in a far corner?It is a Rubbermaid shed. So it's not wood. Also it has a sliding lid at the top so I do not have to bend down to access stuff. Thanks for your thoughts. I am till waiting for some suggestions. Please keep them coming.

I am buying a enclosed tube frame carport, and want to build a wood floor for it strong enough to hold a small Ford 8N tractor. The building will be 18' by 21'. Should I use 2" by 12" , 2" by 10" , 2" by 6" joists? 12 inches apart, 18 inches apart? Plan on plywood sheeting for floor.

8X10 metal storage sheds are very affordable. We must get our flock our of the garage at night so as to eliminate the mouse problem their food attracts. It gets cold here. I would put the shed on the south side in order to maximize the sun exposure. I would also put a red light in there for extra warmth. They do well in the cold but I am not sure if metal would make it unwise.Of course they would have access to the outdoor run and ventilation is a given. The door would be open during the day. My seven dogs do not bother them. I live in a rural area so I know they need security from predators.

What is the best material to put down for flooring in a storage shed already built?
we added an enclosed porch onto our storage shed, just over grass. I planned to either put gravel down or pour concrete later. Money is tight, time is short, but rain soaks the ground there and will limit what things I can store there if I don't cover the ground with something. If I put gravel down, can I add concrete later? Should I just have a professional come pour concrete now?

I am planning to build a shed in the back yard. My book with the plans does not say how tall to build the side walls. Do you know what the height should be including the top double plate and bottom single plate? Im guessing 8ft. total.gable style.
