Any time you buy prefabricated, you pay someone to do a portion of the work for you. If you own a compound miter saw and a circular saw then doing it from scratch will be easy for you. You simply need plans for what you want. The site below has plans, none to the scale you desire, so you will need to adapt them for your needs. But they will assist you in determining cut angles on rafters and roof joists. Also is a link for garage plans since your shed is more the size of a garage. The money you save building from scratch verses prefab would easily pay for a compound miter saw. Good luck. |

It depends on what you want or need. I built one for about $1200.00. Its 14 x 8 but it has a change room for the pool and a great storage area with built in shelving. It took me just about one week to built it alone. Its made to fit my needs that i could find at any store and you can always look at it and say i did that. Cost wise its not much different. Do it yourself if you have the time and take pride in your workmanship. |

Depends a lot on the materials that you use. The quality of most of the ready built sheds and buildings leave a lot to be desired. I built a 12 x 24 building, used good building materials, on 16 " centers and cost-wise came to about $2000. End result is a great, sturdy little building, strong enough to support my riding mower and ATV. Plenty of strong shelves for storage. Roomy enough for a nice workbench. Beside, by building it myself, I can take pride in the craftsmanship and was able to match the design of the main house. |

Since you would be supplying the labor (which is the highest cost of building) you will save money by building it yourself. |

If you know what you're doing- DIY build it. about $500 if you require a kit and clearly written instructions in 4 languages, best buy a kit or a completely built one around $6000. |

When you look at straight dollar value it's cheaper to build. However this doesn't take into account the time you spend building it, and many times people under evaluate how much their time is worth. If you feel your time is worth a lot more, and can be better spend doing other things, and most of us feel this way, then buy premade. You can get premade sheds at very affordable prices if you look at places like carportscenter.com A lot of times the price difference really won't make up for the amount of time you have to put into, so I'd suggest buying premade. |

If you build the storage shed yourself with out extra labor it is cheaper to build. However - buying is easier and faster. :-) Planning Information for building a 12x24 storage shed brandsconstruction.com/ Blogb2/ garage-shed-building-plans.php/ 2009/ 02/ 03/ free-12x24-shed-building-plans 12 x 24 Shed Building Plan Designs garageplansforfree.com/ Free-garage-building-plans/ thumbnails.php?album= 4 Framing with Building List for a 12 x 24 Shed Building garageplansforfree.com/ Free-garage-building-plans/ displayimage.php?pos= -29 |
