It sounds like you have a pretty good plan. I'd make sure that your power cord plugs into a GFI outlet (the ones with a reset button) and use a decent power strip. Silicone sealant will work and the smell goes away when dry. Be careful with the stuff, though, because it can be a challenge to work with. I'd wear old clothes when applying it because it tends to get on you. I'm not a mold expert, but just because it's dry doesn't mean its not potentially harmful. Scrub it down with a weak solution of household bleach and a barely damp cloth. This smell will go away, too. I wouldn't put anything nice in there until I was sure it was watertight and it's lockable. Once you are, a rug, fan, lamp, something to sit or sleep on, and a couple of posters and you're set. I want one. |
